1993 United States Mint Set – New Packaging Format Debut
The 1993 United States Mint Set features uncirculated examples of every circulating denomination struck by the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. This year introduced a major change in presentation, with the traditional paper envelope replaced by a new, more modern outer folder and updated interior design. The set still includes the familiar cellophane packs for each mint, now housed inside the newly redesigned packaging. The official mintage for the 1993 Mint Set was 1,297,431 sets, according to the official Red Book.
Inside, collectors will find uncirculated Lincoln Cents, Jefferson Nickels, Roosevelt Dimes, Washington Quarters, and 1993 Kennedy Half Dollars from both Philadelphia and Denver. No circulating dollar coin was produced this year, so the set continues the standard five-coin-per-mint layout. The improved packaging offers better protection while still providing full visibility of mintmarks, luster, and strike quality.
As the first Mint Set of the new packaging era, the 1993 Mint Set holds a special place for collectors assembling complete runs. Its modernized design, solid early-1990s production quality, and updated presentation make it a standout starting point for the decade’s Mint Sets.
